After the two leaders hailed a 'new era', Xi's plane left Moscow's Vnukovo airport on Wednesday. He was seen off by a guard of honour who played the Russian and Chinese national anthems, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency said.

In February 2022, the pair announced they had forged a 'no limits' friendship and Putin invited Xi to visit the Russian capital. They have since publicly talked of strengthening their 'special relationship', with Moscow and Beijing both rejecting what they say are US attempts to create a 'unipolar world' controlled by Washington.

Putin: “African states are constantly increasing their weight and their role in world affairs, increasingly asserting themselves in politics and economics. We believe that Africa will be one of the leaders of the emerging multipolar world order. There are all the objective prerequisites for this. African countries want to pursue an independent and sovereign foreign and domestic policy and resolve their sometimes difficult problems independently.

Russia and African countries defend the traditional moral norms and social foundations of our peoples and oppose the neo-colonial ideology imposed from outside. By the way, many states in Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America adhere to similar positions. And all together we make up the world majority. I have already said more than once that our country is determined to continue building a strategic partnership with African friends in the full sense of the word.”

Putin is offering free grain to Africa and is writing off their debt.

“The Federal Reserve announced that the FedNow Service will start operating in July and provided details on preparations for launch,” the announcement read.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the forthcoming FedNow launch, which will enable every participating financial institution, the smallest to the largest and from all corners of the country, to offer a modern instant payment solution,” said Ken Montgomery, first vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and FedNow program executive. “With the launch drawing near, we urge financial institutions and their industry partners to move full steam ahead with preparations to join the FedNow Service.”

It points out that in the US, a collective of banks and payment processors known as The Clearing House runs real-time payments, adding that one of the emerging solutions to this challenge has been central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) to facilitate real-time payments. In the US, Fed chair Jerome Powell has dismissed the need for a digital dollar, and FedNow is his response to the call for a CBDC.

“The jury is still out on whether FedNow will be a forerunner for the digital dollar or impede the CBDC’s progress in the world’s largest economy,” Kaaru remarked. “For now, what’s clear is that it will change the payments landscape in the US.”

The idea has been promoted by the WEF for some time as part of its “Great Reset” agenda. The globalist organization has laid out its plan for the ultimate demise of physical cash in an article on the WEF website authored by Deutsche Bank Macro Strategist Marion Laboure.

Meanwhile, the rate at which governments are advancing toward CBDCs is either alarming or impressive, depending on how you view the trend. The WEF article notes that 90% of central banks around the world are now in the process of creating and/or trialling a CBDC.

“Despite the trend toward a cashless society and CBDCs’ progression, the end of cash is still far in sight and will still be used as a store of value and means of payment for some time,” the WEF article warns. In the meantime, cash, physical assets, and decentralized crypto remain the only way for people to preserve their privacy and have full control over their finances.

These red heifers are now between 1 ½ and 2 years old. To replicate the ceremony mentioned in the Bible, they need to be at least 3 years old. And within that time span, they cannot have a blemish or anything that would disqualify them for the ceremony, even one white or black hair.  According to those working on the project, the ceremony of the red heifer needs to be performed on the Mount of Olives, and in a place that would have looked directly into where the Temple stood. The land directly east of the Temple Mount, purchased 12 years ago, meets both of those standards.

He says the ceremony needs priests who have not been defiled by touching anything dead. “The Temple Institute actually has nine pure priests,” the rabbi explained.  “They didn’t born in hospital, okay? They born at home. Because they are priests. So anyway, they don't go to any cemetery. And the parents keep them in a situation that they will not get to any cemetery, not going to other, any problematic place.”

He added, “And they are pure, and they are waiting.  So, we have the priest, we have the red heifer, we have the land.  We have everything ready. We just need to wait another one and a half year.”

For years, Kohelet quietly churned out position papers, trying to nudge government policy in a more libertarian direction. Then, starting in January, it became more widely known as one of the principal architects of the judicial overhaul proposal that has plunged Israel into a crisis over the future of its democracy. If the plan succeeds, it would be a stunning victory not only for the think tank, but also for the people behind it: two guys from Queens.

The first is Moshe Koppel, a 66-year-old mathematics PhD who grew up in New York City and moved to Israel in 1980. He founded Kohelet in 2012 and has been drafting laws and producing conservative and libertarian policy papers with a roster of full- and part-time scholars that now numbers 160. “I don’t want to sound arrogant,” he told Ami, the Orthodox Jewish magazine, in 2019, “but in some sense we’re the brains of the Israeli right wing.”

Kohelet is not required to disclose the names of individual donors, and for years Mr Koppel has artfully deflected questions about funding. But one source of money is a second New Yorker: Arthur Dantchik, a 65-year-old multibillionaire who has donated millions to Kohelet, according to people familiar with his philanthropic giving. Mr Dantchik did not return a call for comment. American money and ideas, from the left and the right, have played a perennial role in Israeli politics. Today, American consultants are a regular feature of election campaigns, and the American-backed Israel Hayom, a free daily, is the country’s most widely read newspaper. Until recently, though, few knew that the nation-rattling judicial proposals were largely an American production.

What do opponents of the plan say? The front opposing the legislation, which includes Israelis largely from the center and left, argues that the overhaul would deal a mortal blow to the independence of the judiciary, which they view as the only check on government power. They say that the legislation would change the Israeli system from a liberal democracy with protections for minorities to a tyranny of majority rule.

Where does Benjamin Netanyahu stand? In the past, Netanyahu, Israel’s current prime minister, was a staunch defender of the independence of the courts. His recent appointment of Yariv Levin, a leader of the judicial overhaul, to the role of justice minister signaled a turnaround, even though Netanyahu publicly promised that any changes would be measured and handled responsibly.

Is there room for compromise? The politicians driving the plan said they were prepared to talk and a group of academics and lawmakers, in the meantime, met behind the scenes for weeks to find a compromise. On March 15, the government rejected a compromise by Issac Herzog, the president of Israel, that was dismissed by Netanyahu soon after it was published.

The proposed judicial overhaul represents the height of Kohelet’s influence. When Yariv Levin, the minister of justice, unveiled the plan in January, he publicly thanked the director of Kohelet’s legal department for his assistance. Mr Koppel would only say that Kohelet’s judicial proposals were “similar” to the government’s. Soon after this interview, tensions in Israel went from a simmer to a boil, and the president recently warned of the real possibility of civil war. A speaker at the protest outside Kohelet this month denounced rich Americans who export ideas to Israel “straight from the delusional fringes of the Republican Party.”

The ruling noted, however, that Ben Gvir is authorized to “outline policies and general principles for the Israel Police,” including in relation to protests and clearing demonstrators from highways. The High Court decision issued by Justice Isaac Amit comes amid increasingly vocal claims that the ultranationalist minister is trying to repress the mass protests against the government’s judicial reforms by ordering the police to use tougher methods of crowd dispersal. Protest groups and opposition parties have claimed Ben Gvir’s approach to policing is turning the police into a “private militia” under his control.

In a press conference hours after the ruling, Ben Gvir argued that “with a half-page-long ruling without any explanations, Justice Amit today canceled the executive branch. The decision that the minister can only set a general policy without any operative ability to implement it is not only unprecedented — it is a coup in the full sense of the word.

“To Justice Amit and some of his friends, the prime minister and government ministers are no more than ornaments,” he charged. “The minister can say what they think should be done, but can’t carry out any of it and ensure their policy is being implemented. According to him, ministers are merely academic researchers who can submit position papers — nothing beyond that.”

A military brass band greeted Xi at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport, where he was welcomed by Russia’s deputy prime minister for tourism, sport, culture and communications, Dmitri Chernyshenko. Xi added that together with Russia, China was “ready to resolutely defend the UN-centric international system, stand guard over the world order based on international law”.

The tie-up managed to avert an 'unthinkable' catastrophic collapse of Credit Suisse, with fears that could have triggered the worst crisis since the 2008 Credit Crunch. The Bank of England confirmed it had been 'engaging closely with international counterparts' before the takeover and vowed that the UK will weather the storm.

'The UK banking system is well capitalised and funded, and remains safe and sound,' Threadneedle Street said. As one of the world's 30 'systemically important' banks, Credit Suisse is considered large enough that its failure would lead to wider financial problems.

'While the weekend deal still presents the Swiss National Bank and Swiss Government with untold headaches, with the size of the newly merged bank set to dwarf the size of the Swiss economy. 'The phrase too big to fail really does spring to mind here, and this morning's weakness in Asia markets serves to reinforce concerns about these types of writedowns and any spillover effects on the rest of the banking sector.'

The economists attribute the increased risk to interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve, which have downgraded the value of bank-held assets like government bonds and mortgage-backed securities. "The recent declines in bank asset values very significantly increased the fragility of the US banking system to uninsured depositor runs," though such runs are most likely "absent other government intervention or recapitalization," the abstract continues.

Though more than likely brought on by a confluence of factors, the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank was, at the very least, a classic "mismatch between deposits and assets — the building blocks of the vanilla business of commercial banking," per The Wall Street Journal. SVB had also invested a chunk of change in long-term government bonds, which dropped in value as the Fed raised interest rates.

But when the bank had to sell those bonds at a gargantuan loss to meet withdrawal demand, its loss position spooked customers and prompted a run.

It is part of a test to set up an emergency warning which will be used in life-threatening situations, such as flooding and wildfires. Modelled off similar schemes in the US, Canada, the Netherlands and Japan, the alert will appear on people's home screens, accompanied by a loud warning sound and vibration.

People who do not wish to receive the alerts will be able to opt out in their device settings, but officials hope the life-saving potential of the messages means that users will keep them on. The alerts will only ever come from the Government or emergency services, and they will include the details of the area affected, and provide instructions about how best to respond.

Scholz and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said they believe the agreement will allow both countries to diversify value chains in order to be able to reduce economic risks. In a joint statement, the two countries said they will work on establishing “a legal framework for bilateral defense and security cooperation activities,” including ways to protect critical infrastructures, trade routes and to secure future supply of sustainable energy.

Germany's decision to prioritize consultations with Japan came after the Asian country put forward an economic security bill last year aimed at securing the uptake of technology and bolstering critical supply chains. Japan is Germany's second-largest trading partner in Asia after China, with a bilateral trade volume of €45.7 billion mainly based on the import and export of machinery, vehicles, electronics and chemical products.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and the G7 meeting in Hiroshima scheduled for May.

He must constantly be engaged to protect the coalition against threats by the ultra-Orthodox members, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's frequent disappointments as well as the tensions surrounding Justice Minister Yariv Levin's push to advance the judicial reform. There is consensus among Likud lawmakers that were it up to Netanyahu, he would have long repealed or adjusted the legislation.

But he is a prisoner of the Coalition members who threaten to exit unless he backs them. President Isaac Herzog's proposed outline for compromise, which leaned to the Left at the last moment, greatly helped the supporters of the reform in the Likud fall in line. Not even Yuli Edelstein, Danny Danon, and David Bitan, who have expressed support for talks with the Opposition, stood behind the president.

History shows that distancing oneself and lack of internal management may work against Netanyahu, as it did against Bennett, who did not recognize in time that his Coalition was coming apart at the seams, or in Netanyahu's case – the fabric of society.

Sometimes, it seems that no one in the prime minister's entourage is willing to explain to him what price he might eventually pay, not for leading the judicial reform, but for how the Coalition has conducted itself so far. It might undermine the future of the government and Netanyahu's ability to achieve goals in the international arena.
