RUSSIA - Any attempts to destroy Russia could spell disaster for the entire world, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, warned on Thursday. Speaking after a religious service marking the Orthodox Christian holiday of Epiphany, the primate claimed that both the international community and Russia are facing “very huge threats.”
EUROPE - Europe has found itself in the throes of an "unprecedented crisis" over the Ukraine conflict, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday. He added that the continent has to choose whether it wants to be free or become totally dependent on either the US or China. In an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais, the French leader noted that Europe’s economic model was being "profoundly affected by the direct and indirect consequences of this war."

The plan to engage Russia militarily is a tacit admission that the United States can no longer maintain its global dominance through economic or political means alone. But after 11 months of nonstop warfare in Ukraine, the US-backed western coalition finds itself in a worse position than when it began.
SWITZERLAND - In Davos, Japanese journalist Masako Ganaha spoke to a chauffeur who drives the World Economic Forum (WEF) VIPs around. He told her he could not use a plug-in car to transport VIPs. He went on to say that electric vehicles are very “dangerous.”
SWITZERLAND - Arch-globalist Klaus Schwab has declared he will run the WEF well into his hundreds despite demands from his colleagues that he put in place a succession plan. A mutiny attempt has reportedly engulfed this year’s World Economic Forum conference at Davos, Switzerland, with senior elites surrounding the organisation reportedly demanding that its leader, arch-globalist Klaus Schwab, put in place plans for his own replacement. However, Schwab appears to now be publicly fighting off attempts to have him removed, with the WEF leader publicly declaring that he will be running the organisation well into his 100s at one of the most notable addresses at the event this year.
USA - A report published this week says that whether or not countries are ready for digital currencies or even understand the concept behind them, central banks are going to begin using them soon either way, and there isn’t much that can be done about it. The Wall Street Journal‘s report touched on the issue of complexity, noting that digital currency is a “game-changing development [that] could have a profound impact on the banking system” despite the fact that “few people still understand it.”
INDONESIA - A volcano that sits off the coast of Indonesia could cause the global economy to collapse, and experts warn it is due to erupt. Mount Merapi sits 1,129 miles from the Strait of Malacca, which has been described as the world's chokepoint. The waterway sees 90,000 ships travel through the narrow channel per year carrying grain, crude oil and every type of commodity on the market. The more than 9,000-foot-tall volcano would shoot a cloud of ash 21 miles above the route that caters to 40 percent of the global trade, along with blanketing Earth in a volcanic winter for three years.
GERMANY - The change at the top of the Ministry of Defense will initiate a massive escalation of German militarism and the NATO war in Ukraine against Russia. Before the next meeting of the so-called Ukraine Contact Group in Ramstein on January 20, the NATO powers are preparing, among other things, the delivery of main battle tanks to Ukraine. Pistorius will meet US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Berlin the day before the Contact Group meeting, immediately after his inauguration.
SWITZERLAND - If you expect billionaires and political weasels to save the Earth, then you’ll love the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland. The Swiss government assigned up to 5,000 Swiss troops to protect its attendees — except from prostitutes charging them $2,500 a night. Self-worship is obligatory in Davos.
SOUTH AFRICA - “Terrorism.” Helluva word. It conjures up images of Isis. Or sparks a memory of the Twin Towers falling. The car bombs from Pagad. The IRA. To many, terrorism is a synonym for “bomb”. The dictionary definition of terrorism is much wider: “The unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.” Reading these heavy words, one cannot but agree that there’s a strong argument that the current targeting of Eskom and the South African public is terrorism. “The unlawful use of violence and intimidation…”
USA - Another North Carolina substation was damaged by gunfire this week. In December more than 40,000 people were without power after two North Carolina substations were damaged by gunfire. CBS News reported: Another power substation in North Carolina has been damaged because of apparent gunfire, energy officials said Tuesday. The damage occurred at a power substation in Thomasville, about an hour away from Moore County, where just weeks ago two other substations were attacked by gunfire.
ISRAEL - Immediately after the November election that elevated a once-fringe bloc of far-right politicians to Israel’s top seats of power, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embarked on an American media blitz, aimed at reassuring his country’s most important ally. “My hands are firmly on the steering wheel,” he said in interview after interview.
USA - Defense contractors are raking in millions of dollars as the Biden administration pledges to continue supporting Ukraine for “as long as it takes.” The US Army announced in December it awarded an $84 million contract to Raytheon Missiles and Defense for more than 1,000 Excalibur 1B precision munitions to replenish those sent to Ukraine.
USA - Tucker Carlson: “If you’ve been paying attention for the past five or six years – and we know you have been – you’ve probably noticed the inverted nature of modern language. Pretty much everything is precisely the opposite of what they claim it is. So the people who tell you they’re defending democracy are promoting authoritarianism, which is not democracy. Then the Black Lives Matter movement winds up killing Black people. Who would have seen that coming?”
VATICAN - In an address on Sunday, Pope Francis added to growing rumours he might abdicate from the position with a sermon on the 'virtue of stepping aside at the right time'. Pope Francis previously stated he would step down from the role if his health deteriorated but has dismissed general speculation, otherwise fuelled by apparent conflict within the church.
