ISRAEL - A week of attacks on Israel, including rockets fired from Lebanon, Gaza and Syria, represents the manifestation of an Iranian strategy to confront Israel with multiple threats on different fronts. Although different groups may be behind the attacks from those places, these groups are likely all linked to Iran. The groups involved include Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and others that may go by different or new names, but which are proxies of Tehran.

IDF military chief says ties with US ‘not essential’

ISRAEL - Herzi Halevi says it’s good to have the US ‘by our side’ but that Israel knows how to act alone; army spokesman quickly clarifies, ‘there’s no substitute’ for friendship with US. “Israel knows how to work alone in the face of any security challenge, but it is good to see the US by our side,” Halevi told Army Radio in a relatively rare interview. But the chief of staff’s remarks ostensibly had the IDF worried that they might be seen as a slight at the US, leading IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari to clarify the comments later Wednesday.

Royal Netherlands Army combat brigades combined with German divisions

EUROPE - On Friday (March 30), Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius sealed the integration of the Netherlands 13 Light Brigade consisting of 3,000 soldiers into the German Army’s 10 Panzer Division (10 Armoured Division). Together with 1 Armoured Division, 10 Armoured Division is one of two mechanised units of the German Army. Around 8,000 of the Netherlands’ 41,200 active personnel now operate in the German Army.

According to the Journal, Burns told Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that the US “has felt blindsided” by Riyadh’s rapprochement with Iran as well as Syria, two nations under crippling US economic sanctions.

"Israel's response, tonight and later on, will exact a significant price from our enemies," said Netanyahu at the meeting's conclusion. At the meeting's conclusion, according to Army Radio, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said: "[We are] prepared for the various possibilities - we will know how to act against any threat."

Islamic world should unite against Israeli attacks

TURKEY - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi in a phone call on Friday that “the Islamic world should be united against Israel’s attacks in Palestine,” his office said. The comments come amid spiraling violence in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. set off after clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which sits on the flashpoint Temple Mount site in Jerusalem’s Old City. TURKEY - Ankara and Damascus, with Moscow’s backing, are making an effort to reconcile. This could lead to a thriving, integrated region. Delegations from Syria, Iran and Türkiye met in Moscow with their counterparts this week to discuss the normalization of ties between Türkiye and Syria. It’s the prelude to a higher-level meeting that will take place later this month. Improved cooperation would be particularly important in bringing a close to the ongoing Syrian conflict, as Ankara and Damascus share a long border and frozen relations since the beginning of the war.
