Food prices are soaring at rates not seen since the 1970s and even Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey admits he has no idea when prices at the checkout will start falling.

USA - The Pentagon’s attempts to reach out to China’s military in recent months have been ignored or rebuffed, Ely Ratner, US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, has claimed. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin “believes in the importance of open lines of communication with the PRC [People’s Republic of China] and we have sought to build out those open lines of communication. Unfortunately... we've had a lot of difficulty when we have proposed phone calls, meetings, dialogues,” Ratner said during an event hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington on Thursday.

USA - US President Joe Biden has told journalists that he feels “extremely negative” about Russian tactical nuclear weapons being stationed in Belarus. Biden’s comment, which was reported by Reuters, came hours after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that “the deployment of nuclear munitions has already begun.” Russia shouldn’t worry about the safety of its weapons as the Belarusians, being “practical and thrifty people,” will be able to keep them safe, Lukashenko added.

USA - Biden's Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, former Senator John Kerry, made a stunning revelation earlier this month when he spoke about the need to transform the way food is produced in order to lower emissions. The new crusade for climate activists is to reduce emissions that are a result of food production. "A lot of people have no clue that agriculture contributes about 33 percent of all the emissions of the world," Kerry said, "depending a little bit on how you count it, but it's anywhere from 26 to 33. And we can't get to net zero, we don't get this job done, unless agriculture is front and center as part of the solution.

USA - On Friday afternoon, a bomb threat to multiple locations prompted the evacuation of a Target store in Utah. The incident unfolded at a Target store located at 810 West 2000 North in Layton, Utah. Law enforcement, including a bomb squad and K9 unit, immediately responded to the scene around 1 pm, according to local news outlet KUTV 2. All customers and staff were directed to the parking lot as a precautionary measure. The threats extended beyond the Layton location, with stores in Salt Lake, Taylorsville, and Provo also targeted.

USA - Turns out, Target pushing an agenda on kids for June’s Pride month was just the tip of the iceberg. Fox News has uncovered a long-standing partnership between the retail giant and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) — a K-12 education group which, among other things, focuses on getting districts to adopt policies that will keep parents in the dark on their child’s in-school gender transition. The two have worked together for a decade, according to Fox News, which added that Target has so far given $2.1 million to the organization. “GLSEN leads the movement in creating affirming… and anti-racist spaces for LGBTQIA+ students. We are proud of 10+ years of collaboration with GLSEN and continue to support their mission,” Target said, according to Fox News Digital.

USA - A Calvin Klein advert featuring a trans man posing in a sports bra has sparked furious backlash after going viral online. In a promotional snap shared by the brand, who have long been known for their sultry and sexy ads featuring toned topless models, Bappie Kortram can be seen wearing a pair of jeans and a sports bra. Bappie, who is from the Netherlands, is represented by a number of modelling agencies around the world including British Zebedee Talent, who describe him as ‘a trans man who has not had top surgery yet.’ The advert, which was initially shared as part of the Calvin Klein Pride 2022 Campaign, went viral this week after it was reposted on Twitter by Dr Anastasia Maria Loupis, who posted: ‘Calvin Klein wants to go broke.’

IRAN - Nearly a year ago, I warned in these pages that Israel and Iran were rapidly reaching an inflection point over Tehran’s intent to weaponize its nuclear program. In June 2022, Iran was reported to already have amassed 95 pounds of highly enriched uranium to a 60 percent level — well beyond the amount of mass needed for an atomic weapon, yet still short of the 90 percent enrichment required for an Armageddon-like detonation. Iran clearly knows now how to unlock the doors to a nuclear Armageddon. There is a growing sense in Israel that Jerusalem is quickly running out of time to prevent Iran from becoming a regional nuclear power.

USA - On Monday, World Health Organization (WHO) director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus issued a warning that the planet must be prepared for a disease deadlier than Covid-19. Dr Tedros delivered this message during a meeting of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, just weeks after the WHO officially ended the global health emergency related to COVID-19. While claiming that COVID-19 still poses a significant threat, Tedros warned that it is not the sole health crisis the world may face. When the next pandemic comes knocking — and it will — we must be ready to answer decisively, collectively, and equitably.”
