Most people don’t realize this, but the “#AltGov” movement was very active during the first Trump administration. Of course during the Biden administration it went away, because the leftists inside our federal agencies saw no need to rebel against Joe Biden. But now it is back with a vengeance…

If this sort of insubordination persists, more agencies may have to be almost entirely dismantled just like USAID was.

We have never seen anything like this before. It will be very interesting to see how all of this plays out. On top of everything else that is going on, a potential government shutdown is looming in the middle of next month… In my entire lifetime, we have never seen this much chaos in Washington.

Their lame arguments that democracy must “protect itself” — ominously harkening back to the Weimar republic — do not adequately camouflage their left-wing agenda to cancel conservatives. Berlin desperately fears German voters peeking behind the curtain.

The official cancelling is a smoke-and-mirrors operation designed to demonize the “far-right” AfD as a “dangerous new authoritarianism” and permanent pariah. The smear campaign consists of hardball Teutonic lawfare and a constant negative drumbeat by the state-run and woke German media establishment. The German political class hopes voters will draw a clear inference: If the AfD is “under investigation,” it must be dangerous.

While the AfD is to the right of the CDU, it represents legitimate conservative values: protecting a country’s national identity, rejecting unsustainable mass immigration, and promoting industrial enterprise. Berlin’s far-left globalist elite, however, does not want anyone filling that space, and they have ruthlessly played the “Nazi” card to keep it empty. Merz is wrong to cooperate and isolate the AfD, and it is doubtful he will ever change his approach. But it is also doubtful that the firewall will hold up in the long term. Realignment in German politics is coming.

Instead, he expanded the North’s arsenal and developed longer range missiles. Kim said Pyongyang’s nuclear status was “irreversible” and insisted that “there can be no bargaining over our nuclear weapons.”

It has become evident to all that the US cannot be trusted to keep its agreements. Moscow went to war against Ukraine after the allies violated multiple assurances not to expand NATO to Russia’s border. Ukraine and Libya were attacked after abandoning an inherited nuclear arsenal and a nascent nuclear program, respectively, in response to US commitments. Indeed, Libya’s Muammar Gadaffi was ousted and killed after relying on President George W Bush’s promises of goodwill. For any opponent of Washington, regime change could be only a short military campaign away.

When the CDU and AfD votes are combined, Germany’s clear preference – on an 84 per cent turnout – is for a government of the Right; and yet one of the partners in the next coalition will be a discredited party of the Left with just 16 per cent support.

Will the SPD prove to be a brake on reforms Mr Merz is seeking to immigration and net zero? If it does try to thwart them, he should be able to rely on AfD votes in parliament, making something of a mockery of its apparent exclusion behind the anti-extremist firewall.

The SPD, Greens and hard-Left Die Linke disagree with Merz’s policies on immigration and the economy.

The SPD wants to hold on to Bürgergeld (universal basic income), but would agree on a lower debt ceiling.

Die Linke wants more taxes, such as a wealth tax and higher inheritance tax plus rent controls.

The Greens are ideologically wedded to the net zero policies which are causing so many problems for the economy. Leading Green politician Robert Habeck made it a non-negotiable position to phase out the combustion engine by 2035.

All three parties are resistant to reducing immigration or to fixing the asylum crisis.

With all those differences, it will be difficult for Merz to reach a consensus and push through the much needed reforms if he goes into coalition with any of them.

Years of recession, widespread anger at mass migration, high energy prices, and the cost of living crisis will put the CDU under huge pressure to deliver. It will become increasingly difficult to justify excluding the AfD when the majority of the country have voted for Right-wing parties, only to be denied a Right-wing government. And part of that blame lies with the other parties and the media (both domestic and foreign) constantly referring to the AfD as far-Right regardless of their common-sense policies.
