USA - With mainstream media spitting out unconfirmed accusations of chemical weapons use, be it in Syria or Salisbury, don’t bother digging deeper for evidence because that’s just for ratings, Redacted Tonight host Lee Camp has said. News coverage over the recent month has presented loads of material for the latest episode of the comedy show.

USA - US President Donald Trump used a joint press conference with UK Prime Minister Theresa May to excoriate Europe’s migrant problem, calling immigration “very negative” and saying that Europeans “better watch themselves.” “I think it’s been very bad for Europe. You see the same terrorist acts I do, we see them a lot,” Trump said, speaking to reporters at PM’s countryside residence Chequers on Friday. It follows Trump’s criticism of May’s handling of Brexit a day earlier.
ISRAEL - “Iran Project” is the IDF codename for a newly-established US-Israeli task force for executing potential decisions to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, ballistic missiles and/or military bases in the Middle East. “Project Iran” was set up during Israel’s Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Gady Eisenkott’s talks with top US brass in Washington on June 29 for coordinated US-Israeli military operations against Iran.
GERMANY - President Trump has warned at a NATO summit that German dependence on Russian gas poses a major security threat to the West. It’s about time somebody said it! This problem has been brewing for decades. In fact it goes right back to the communist era of the Soviet Union, when the Russians saw the burgeoning green movement as the perfect way to undermine their enemies in the free West. Originally, the Soviets funded the “Peace Movement” in Western Europe mainly as a way of promoting the campaign for nuclear disarmament (in the West, that is, not behind the Iron Curtain). They were especially successful in Germany. Green campaigning has made it increasingly hard for fossil fuel producers in Germany to make any kind of profit. So guess who is now providing the energy shortfall? The very people who, all those years ago, sowed the seeds of Germany’s green energy suicide: the Russians.
RUSSIA - Trump’s recent attacks criticizing a gas pipeline project connecting Russia and Germany, which he made ahead of his meeting with Vladimir Putin, are a matter of concern, the Kremlin’s spokesman told RT. “Let’s not forget that Nord Stream 2 is an international project, not simply Russian-German. This joint project has several participants, big companies from various nations,” Dmitry Peskov said, in an exclusive interview.
EUROPE - Cardinal Anders Arborelius said in an interview Thursday that although many world leaders do not follow his advice, Pope Francis has a “prophetic voice” regarding immigration and many people are in fact listening to him. Speaking with Crux, a US-based online Catholic website, the bishop of Stockholm said that “not many political partners” follow Francis totally, but “people of all creeds and opinions are listening to him, so there is always a possibility for him to help people open up for a more positive outlook on migration.” The pope himself has said that this is indeed his goal, to effect a “change in mindset” regarding immigration. In its interview, Crux described the cardinal as a “long-time champion” of welcoming immigrants and refugees in his work as bishop of Stockholm.
ISRAEL - 100 rockets were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip since 3pm, the IDF said in a statement Saturday night. The IDF estimated 20 were intercepted by Iron Dome batteries and 73 fell in open areas. "During the course of the day, the IDF attacked dozens of terrorist targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip, including a building used as a training facility, under which a terrorist tunnel was dug," the IDF said. "The Hamas terrorist organization is responsible for everything that is carried out in and out of the Gaza Strip and is responsible for the situation. The IDF is prepared for a variety of scenarios, which will continue to intensify according to the assessment of the situation and the operational need, and the IDF is determined to continue protecting Israeli citizens."
USA - Expect big problems with the global economy as the trade conflict between the United States and China escalates, predicts veteran investor Mark Mobius. “There’s no question we’ll see a financial crisis sooner or later because we must remember we’re coming off from a period of cheap money. There’s going to be a real squeeze for many of these companies that depended upon cheap money to keep on going,” Mobius said in an interview with Bloomberg.
USA - The ideas of Leftists are rooted in such dangerous insanity that if liberals got what they are currently demanding, they would destroy human civilization. All of their key ideas are horrible failures. That’s because they’re rooted in delusional thinking rather than rationality and logic.
USA - A common drug used to control blood pressure and help prevent heart failure was [recalled] by the US Food and Drug Administration on Friday, a week after 22 other countries recalled it because the drug contains a chemical that poses a potential cancer risk. The recall is due to the presence of the impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), which was found in the recalled products, according to an FDA statement.
EUROPE - President Donald J Trump appeared to have met his key objectives for the Brussels NATO summit Thursday, revealing that alliance members would “substantially” increase their commitments, and much faster than previously planned. The comments came at a surprise press conference called after an emergency session of NATO ally leaders Thursday morning. The meeting had begun as a planned multilateral discussion between NATO, Georgia, and Ukraine, but Trump’s insistence on discussing the poor state of defence funding among the majority of members led to alliance Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg declaring the meeting an “emergency session”. The President said: “We’ve accomplished a lot with respect to NATO… everyone has agreed to substantially up their commitment, they are going to up it to levels they never thought of before.”
USA - YouTube will invest $25 million in funding “quality journalism” on its platform. The initiative will aim to provide context and to promote ‘reputable’ sources; but there are doubts as to what, exactly, that might mean. YouTube announced the initiative on Monday, and says it aims to make “it easier to find quality news” and improve “the news experience on YouTube.” The initiative forms part of a wider, $300 million Google program aimed at “helping journalism thrive in the digital age.” In the coming weeks, videos posted about breaking news events will be accompanied with a link to carefully vetted news article about the events, as well as a reminder that breaking news can rapidly change. YouTube will also highlight breaking news videos from reputable news organizations[?] on its homepage, and recommend that viewers watch similar videos following the ones they were watching.
ITALY - Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini wants to prevent any more migrants from coming to Italy and is skeptical of Chancellor Angela Merkel's efforts to come up with a joint European solution. DER SPIEGEL spoke with him in Rome.
DER SPIEGEL: It currently looks as though the EU will be more divided than ever at the upcoming Brussels summit. Does that worry you?
Salvini: In the coming months, it will be decided if Europe still has a future in its current form or whether the whole thing has become futile. It's not just about the budget for the next seven years. Next year will see new European Parliament elections. Within one year, we will see if united Europe still exists or if it doesn't.
USA - Brexiteers are still hopeful for a hard Brexit as Donald Trump could show support for a clean break from the "German-run EU" when he visits Britain this week, according to sources. Close allies of Donald Trump claim the President holds positive thoughts towards a hard Brexit deal and he may break his silence on the matter if the opportunity arises. A close friend of the New York billionaire said: “Trump supported Brexit and liked the idea of Britain being independent and not owned by the EU. He has a general distaste for the EU. He thinks Germany secretly controls it.” Despite this, it was revealed the UK could be heading towards a "soft-Brexit".
