RUSSIA - PM Netanyahu told CNN he was “looking into” sending the Iron Dome to Kiev, prompting a reaction from Moscow. Anyone so much as speculating about sending weapons to Ukraine is escalating the conflict, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In an interview to CNN on Tuesday, Netanyahu said he did not rule out the possibility of sending Iron Dome missile defense systems to Kiev – something his predecessor rejected outright.
UKRAINE - Kyiv believe Putin's attack may happen around February 24 - the one year anniversary of the invasion. Putin is desperate to achieve something after a bruising first year which has seen his forces thrown back. Ukraine however fear the next few weeks will be crucial for the conflict as they continue to call for weapons from the West. Defence minister Oleksii Reznikov believes Putin is gathering up to 500,00 soldiers for the new offensive.
USA - The billionaire activist foresaw that NATO would become the enforcer and Eastern Europeans the manpower for his new world order. George Soros is either stunningly prescient or frighteningly influential when it comes to determining who will need to do all the bleeding and dying that he deems necessary to bring about a desirable “new world order.”
UK - The UK could deplete its ammunition stocks in mere hours should it be drawn into large-scale fighting, a former British commander warned on Thursday. This and other issues make the UK military unfit to be regarded as a “top tier” NATO member, he said. Retired General Richard Barrons, who formerly headed the UK’s Joint Forces Command, sounded the alarm in an op-ed published by The Sun in which he said the fighting force has been “hollowed out by spending cuts.”
USA - “Today it is Ukraine, but tomorrow it will be us, if we do not stop Putin now.” These are the remarks of Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal... Standing next to him was Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican. He too had something to say. Thus he intoned: “If Putin gets away with this, there goes Taiwan”. An empire such as the United States can no more sit idle in Ukraine… than a cat can sit idle as a mouse slinks by. It must get itself in the action.
USA - Has World War III already begun? That’s a serious question and deserves serious consideration by investors. A wave of analysts and commentators have warned that the war in Ukraine could spin out of control and escalate into World War III. One variation on that theme is that the war could escalate into a nuclear war with tactical nuclear weapons deployed. Most point a finger at Russia as the party that will launch a nuclear strike out of desperation at a failing campaign in Ukraine.
USA - Most Americans reflexively date this from December 7, 1941, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. That’s the right date for US entry, but of course, the war began on September 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. The UK and France declared war on Germany on September 3. Yet did World War II actually begin much earlier? Japan invaded Manchuria on September 18, 1931. They established a puppet regime there called Manchukuo led by Emperor Puyi (the infamous “Last Emperor” of China, and a descendant of the Qing Dynasty). This was followed by a full-scale invasion of China by Japan in 1937 and the horrific Rape of Nanjing in December 1937.
USA - Senator Tommy Tuberville (Republican for Alabama) paints a very bleak picture of the state of international affairs, calling this moment in history the “most dangerous time” in his lifetime. During an interview with Mobile, AL radio’s FM Talk 106.5, Tuberville, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, discussed problems with the US military and its inability to recruit. However, following his assessment, Alabama’s senior US Senator also warned the hostile acts around the globe have us “teetering on the brink of World War III.”
RUSSIA - Officials in Moscow took aim at claims that Western powers could get away with sending fighter jets, such as the F-16, to Ukraine without escalating hostilities, with a spokeswoman for the Kremlin going so far as to lambast the suggestion as being “absurd”. It comes after French president Emmanuel Macron suggested on Monday that the possibility of France sending some of its fighter jets to Ukraine was not “prohibited in principle” so long as Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s administration could give assurances that the aircraft would not be used to escalate the conflict.
USA - Former President Donald Trump on Monday, during his final “Save America” rally of the midterm campaign cycle in Ohio, warned that President Joe Biden’s administration could lead America to World War III. Trump was discussing how the United States was safer during his four years as president than during Biden’s tenure. Trump chided Biden for bringing the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agent count up to 87,000. “Instead of doubling the number of IRS agents, we should double the number of ICE and border patrol agents,” Trump said. “And we should pass legislation to deport every illegal alien that Joe Biden has unlawfully allowed to break into our country.”
USA - Thanks to political games and the fossil fuel lobby, Washington is shooting itself in the foot on clean energy. According to a recent South China Morning Post report citing the China Silicon Industry Association, last month, major Chinese solar panel makers Longi Green, TCL Zhonghuan, and Tongwei sliced their prices by as much as 27% on the back of cuts in raw material costs. This is set to benefit the world and mainly Europe, as the continent diversifies its energy portfolio amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and attendant disruptions of the gas supply from Russia.
USA - The company has benefited from taxpayer-funded research and guaranteed contracts but plans to price gouge Americans. With the US federal government’s stock of vaccines for residents running out, Moderna now plans to raise the cost of its vaccine from $26 to up to $130 in a decision that understandably has Americans angry.
USA - The Satanic Temple joined Democrats in their battle against the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling on Roe v Wade. The Satanic Temple released a statement following the ruling on their plans to fight in court for the right to “religious abortion.” The satanists believe abortion is a “religious” sacrament. On Wednesday the Satanic Temple announced they will open a “religious medical services clinic” in New Mexico.
UK - A longstanding dispute over wages and working conditions came to a head on Wednesday as hundreds of thousands of British workers took part in what organizers said was the biggest day of industrial action in over a decade. Around 500,000 workers joined the day of mass action, teachers, train drivers, university lecturers, bus drivers, civil servants and airport workers marched out. The major discontent comes amid rampant inflation and years of stagnant wage growth, putting further pressure on Britain’s long-ruling Conservative government, which is grappling with a cost-of-living crisis.
ISRAEL - When the floodgates are open, a torrent of water gushes into a dry river bed and races to the shore of the Sea of Galilee, a biblical lake in northern Israel that was being lost to drought and the growing population around it. The water is fresh, high-quality, expensive. Desalinated from the Mediterranean Sea and transported across the country where it awaits the order to replenish the lake should it start to shrink again.
